You have to realize that in this game you aren't running back to your corpse to re-attain your gear, losing XP upon death, or having equipment lose durability from being hit/dying. In fact, there are virtually no dire consequences to dying in AL other than gaining +1 death in your statistics and having to run back to the group. As annoying as it may be for you, you have to accept the challenge factor involved with balancing risk versus reward in elite maps. Once you understand that concept, you'll understand why the Devs threw these "death traps" into the game.
