    Methodology of Data Collection [PHMETH]

    I will briefly go over how these numbers were collected. The approaches used to collect data in this guide was very systematic and controlled. However, it is important to note that the numbers seen are by no matter accurate; they are all estimations, though I've tried to make these estimations as close to the actual numbers as possible.



    Data was collected in 3 parts (bold red numbers in picture). The first part is the amount of damage the enemy does to me. The second part is the amount of damage the enemy does to me, but with higher armor. The third part is the amount of damage I do to the enemy.

    For the first data collection, I let the enemy hit me 20 times while I have nothing equipped (7 armor). The attack range and attack average is then calculated. Then, a "zero armor range and average" is calculated by adding the armor to the previous calculated values. These zero armor values is what is considered the "true" enemy attack if we have 0 armor equipped (keep in mind that this value doesn't take into account minimum enemy damage).

    For the second data collection, the enemy hits me 20 times more but I have more armor equipped (30). This is 23 more armor than before. So if the enemy hits me for an average of 20 damage, as seen in the first set of data, then I should be hit for 0 damage right? Unfortunately this is not the case. Even with 200 armor, enemies cannot hit you for 0 damage, so the devs have implemented a "minimum enemy damage" for all enemies regardless of how much armor you have. The enemy damage average is calculated again, and then subtracted from the zero armor average to give us the "maximum effective armor," or the most amount of armor you can wear before the minimum enemy damage comes into play. This can be a useful tool in estimating survivability, as it tells you how much armor you should wear so that the enemies hit you for as low as they can.

    The third data set calculates the amount of defense and health of the enemy/boss. 3 enemies are killed and the amount of damage is recorded. We expect to have a damage range of 48-54 when in actuality we do only 44-50. There is a damage reduction of 4, and we will assign that value as "enemy armor" or "enemy DEF." The roughest estimation in my guide is enemy/boss health. This is because of the tendency to overkill an enemy, i.e. when an enemy has essentially 5 health remaining, I may kill it for 57 damage (52 damage over its health). Therefore, health will always be the most inaccurate figure, but it's interesting to note the health trend across all campaigns, especially the bosses

    Limitations to figures:
    1. Limited sample collection per enemy/boss (n=20 in most cases).
    2. Calculations are all estimates (albeit, decently good estimates).
    3. Human error (a wrong damage here and there, miscalculations).
