Do pets drop in the Whispering Islands, and if so, from what mobs? I accidentally sold my panda to a NPC and feel like farming a pet.

My other thought is to purchase the resolute bear, because if I get drunk enough and squint my eyes, it almost looks like a Pooh Bear :)

I know fishfolk drop from fishfolk and they're sooo cute. But also sort cheap if you buy one instead. Not sure what the resolute bear is.

Yep, bc more ppl are lvling and farming those areas. By the time I got a pterosaur, the price dropped from about 170 to 90, so I just kept it.

I feel I lucked out on pet drops- I got a dark bear cub in my first hour of playing. Seems like the rarest pet now if AH is anythin to go by. No pets since then, but meh, until they get a use idc

Yeah, but any items you get on a diff server are stuck on that server (until we get server migration, I suppose -- but not sure how that will work yet). I agree, rather be on the busy server with all the people. After all, it is an MMO!

Just hit 57, I checked for any new quests but there are none! How do they expect me to earn 300k on my own lol, it's gonna be so boring. I don't know how I did it with my warrior.

I may just continue my monk and come on Mage to do dailies.

Exp pots on heretic monks, you can get 300k+++ in 45 minutes. And within 3 hours, you'll be 60.. but.. well you'll be up close with the heretic elites for 3 hours.. XD It may get boring..

Omg why is Andromea lvl 46? I got the quest at lvl 42. I don't even remember getting this quest with my warrior, but I must have bc it's a dragon quest, no?
Anyway, I almost killed him, but my health was lower than his and an imp started attacking to, so I had to run :( My snipe barely scratches him!

Nevermind. Got him on the second try. My snipe crit for 1200+. he never even touched me :)

I don't use exp pots, but heretics are way too crowded sometimes. That's my main problem. Sometimes I wish I started on a quieter server.

Respeced my Assassin because i wanted to complete the Surprise-Stab combo (Impale, Ruthless and Paralysis). Can spam dagger for 250, impale crit for 900 :) Oh, and I found gear is super important to me now, since +1 damage = +7 impale crit!

We already had a Convo about split shot on here :p. Most of us got rid of it first chance we got. I'm even going without explosive now, bc snipe does most of the damage (when it crits). Need to finish mine toons so I can reroll BW / MM sometime in July and hopefully finish them before any updates.

I like to maximize a single tree of full of skills/ max spellbook rank, so I can understand the true power and effectiveness of a class, with 2 different sets of equipment focus when facing PvE or PvP.

So I can’t really comment on the hybrids or different types of built yet. 4 toons that I played so far are pure PvE builds with 1 tree focus, only dabbled 0-6 points into opposite tree at most, focus on single target, aoe skills and utilize passive ability and equipment attributes to enhance characters.

When I do PvP though, I hold my own. Collecting sets of equipment is as hassle as it is, so I don’t even wanna respec / try different builds. If I do, I will raise a new toon. I am a weird loner anyway :p

Regarding archer’s split shot and explosive shot, they are truly gear towards PvE for AoE exp / farming purposes. When use them right, they are very good in strategic PvP situation as well. No to mention when you couple with weighted arrows, knocking them down, interrupt them, protect yourself and teammates from mobs or players.

Since Whisper Island I practice archer aoe all the way into Rift, regardless I solo / group with others/myself etc. I would gather 4-8 mobs depends on situation just like any other class. Archer has good vigor and I build them up by meleeing and switch targets so they are hurt somewhat same amount, so when I do AoE, they all die same time.

At lv60 farming lv53-56 mobs, they can’t really touch/melee me at all. I only need 1-2 split/explosive and some fast melee to clear 1 set group of 6-8 due to my high attack/agi/crit. There are times I would need to use couple more, depends how fast I want to kill and move on to next area. Vigor cost is expensive, but raises fast.

Archer is awesome for DPS / single target, but we could be very effective in aoe with the split/explosive too =) So I have not wrote those 2 off yet on my build.

But I agree as a solo archer, aoe points can be spent somewhere else until you get to lv60 farming gold/items.

Yeah there's nothing special about split shot but it adds extra damage since I have nothing else to use except rapid shot. I may respec after getting explosive/avulsion if I need the skill points.

My mage is only level 57, but since there are no more quests and grinding is so boring, I will level him up by doing dailies. Ranger will probably be my last character until the end of the year.

How do you aoe with an archer? I always thought it was a single-target class. I will probably keep split/explosive unless I really need another skill.

AoE with an archer is pretty decent, but only with a tanker IMO.

Back with my pure AoE MM + my brother with a pure AoE ranger, we would gather 5-6 elite mobs and go :

Dragon Kick - Split Shot - Phoenix Storm - Explosive Shot - Dragon Kick - Mantis. By that time almost 90% of the time all mobs are dead :)

Solo AoE Archer is a bit harder, IMO. Especially since you'd have to be constantly kiting the mobs to get enough vigor for both ES and SS, yet both have cast times.

Should work well for Mits though, that handy double device pure divine monk ;)

hehe yah, in a group/team scenario, archer aoe exp can work. but when solo exp, archer aoe is not efficient for obvious reasons.

Even when I dual device with Divine Monk and Archer Ranger, I would still only pull/kill single nonstop, I am lazy, it's less hassle and i feel faster, less mess.

I was refer using archer to farm gold etc, key things are level difference and AC/agi/atk/crit etc, to be effective on kill fast and not take damage.

My younger archer days I would actually stay maximum range, open with Explosive shot (knocks them down which gives me time to do more skills/damage) > avulsion shot(dot/poision/slow proc walk towards me) regular bow or shooter stance to buildup damage/vigor > rapid shot >pin feet if getting too close

The ideas is stay in same spot, able to shoot 360 degrees, all radius/direction for mobs, they die exactly right in front of me, so i dont even move an inch to loot.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I guess killing one by one is more efficient anyway. The one thing about aoe-ing that bugs me is spawn times. If someone comes in and kills a few mobs then the timers are all messed up. You have a couple of mobs spawning in the middle of your aoe combo.

Besides, killing one by one with an archer is super fast. At level 22 a mob within 2 levels of me is dead a little while after the sneak stun wears off.

Sneak CD is actually really slow too if you RS right after you sneak. I like to use it against ranged/mage mobs too.

Depends on character, IMO.

Monks, I would definitely use sidebar for either Divine/MM.

Archer/Ranger, wheel. On my archer its usually scroll up once or down for all my skills I immediately need, and I need the jump option too.

Mages, I would say sidebar due to all their skills.

Warriors, melee/damage skill on wheel and shouts on sidebar.

So I think generally, slow CD skill on sidebar and battle ones on wheel. Sucks you can't put food on the wheel option though, so if you fill your sidebar up with skills there's no hotkey for food :(

On mage, I have to use both the sidebar and the wheel. Too many skills to keep all in one place. For the rest, I prefer the PL style sidebar. I guess it is just what I am use to. Although I do feel like it limits the screen view. I tried the wheel, but once I get more than 4 or 5 active skills, I didn't like having to scroll during combat. So I would always go back to the sidebar style.

Funny, when I first started playing (with my archer), I didn't want to have to use the sidebar. So I was using talent points only on passive skills in order to be able to use the wheel. When I switched to warrior, I started doing the same thing. Then people pointed out I was missing out on great skills, so I tried the sidebar and got more skills. Never looked back. I really don't know why I was so afraid of using the sidebar -- it's slimmer than the PL one even. Anyway, I had my sidebar completely full on my warrior, so can't see using the wheel instead. I tried now going back to wheel with my archer, but in later levels I have too many skills (even without split shot and explosive shot), that I ended up going back to the sidebar. It's just faster for me. If I'm just running from point a to b, I'll often close it for better viewing and the jump ability. If I had only 3-4 skills I need in battle, I'd use the wheel. But I find it too hard to turn that wheel in the midst of battle.

Im lvl 58 ranger now and thought that I would try out this crafting thing.... so i go get me some poor fur and craft a piece or two... go to greenmount and try to buy the next lvl crafting skill and OMG it costs almost 600 of those crafting currencies.... getting the master levels costs like over 11,000 currencies so it means I'll need close to 300,000+ at least to get myself to the master's level and be able to craft all the best gear... this also means that it will cost you a fortune to buy all the materials to get there because u surely are not going to farm al the materials and will buy most from the AH....

like who would spend the time, money and currencies to get to the master's level?????

You will gain more currency from crafting when you level up your crafting not like 10 from the poor pur. Next up should be 50, 250, 500, 1000+? Yeah it's a pain to level up on the first few level of crafting.

Master lvl is 44k, actually. I started crafting leather around lvl 25 and I spent way too much gold on poor fur (even after farming all those dumb lvl 6 beasts for fur). I also bought some mata for later levels just to quicken the process. But I haven't bought any recipes bc it uses too much currency. I bought one lvl 42 helm recipe just to be able to craft heavy fur and build up to that 44k currency. By the time I got to lvl 42, the helm was worse than what I had already from a quest several lvls earlier.

Warriors definitely have everything easier in this game. Plate crafting was MUCH easier, and items are much more useful (until master crafting -- then it's kinda weak). And quest items for warriors are actually decent too. Do you know what rangers get from the Dragon quests? A bow that requires lvl 45 to use, een though all the other quest items are lvl 1. And a vest that has wisdom and spell crit, even though it's meant for a ranger. Umm....huh?

I definitely prefer the sidebar. I am preparing my skill layout for end-game, where I will have 8-9 skills. Sure you could make do with the wheel, but you have to scroll up to two times to get to a skill. Not to mention ranger skills look alike and you could get confused. And with the sidebar already open you have easier access to potions/food if you need it.

Won't be that painful if you do the daily quest 120k+ for all 5. I think the only useful high level gears from crafting are the blue and purple, but for that you have to camp the elemental king to get the symbol and buy the rune. I just do it for fun now because I collect materials while leveling. Not sure if I ever will get the chance to kill the elemental king.

Good ones for archer, IMO, would be :

Chest : Guardian Leather Coat (Advanced- Best) or a Sniper Leather Coat (Professional).
Pants : Hunter Leather Trousers (Professional).
Boots : Riders Caligae (Professional).

The extreme best would be :

Chest : Stealth Hunter Coat (Master - 2 Gen Symbols).
Pants : Stealth Hunter Trousers (Master - 1 Gen Symbol). Luckily I got that one piece and made this one.

Professional pieces are pretty cheap because of that insanely fast Balrock Lord respawn, 3 minutes on the dot is crazy. The Guardian Leather Coat is pretty good, it seemed the recipe became rarer though. Captain Symbol is also a small pain.

Hmm, the only green drops I'd consider for Leather are probably the Wind types. But even then, the crafted blues offer better stats IMO.

I think it'd depend on build, since all of my crafted stuff give me crit and anything after that is bonus. There are some pieces that I'm still wearing that are lower level though, Desert Hood and some Desert Shoulders, both from quests and both have crit :)

Havent found any good Helm/Glove recipes or pieces for Leather, seen some pretty decent ones in AH for Plate/Cloth..

I'd choose the three professionals for end-game gear. I prefer the Guardian one over Sniper because of crit, but it'd depend on build or preference too. Looks pretty nooby :( lol

His spawn spot is right next to Windscale Ruins, to the right of it. You'll either see a few people standing around or if there's nobody, try searching for him around the southern area near minatours, he might have wandered there. If you kill him, run back to the right of Windscale, should be able to see it.

He wanders near the chest if no one kills him. But he spawns a bit north of there. Right between some bulettes and imps, and saithon in the other direction. So basically diff mobs on each side of you ;)

If there's competition, just try another time. And don't bother competing with others if you're a monk -- my lvl 52 warrior got him every time instead of the lvl 60 monks :p

Its a lot easier to level as an archer than an assassin. I learned that the hard way and for being stubborn (plus I loved my rogue but thats another story) I leveled my first toon as an assassin. The problem is there arent many daggers in the game and you will use the same dagger you have now till level 21 or 22 where you find the penuba or something like that and its not a very good dagger. This will also happen after level 26 or so that you will have to use that dagger till you are almost 40. Because the assassin is melee you will take a lot of damage and you will have to stop often for food.

Because the archer is range and you can pretty much kill anything before it reaches you, your downtime will be reduced drastically and you will be able to level a lot faster. Then when you reach the max level you an respec to an assassin.

The assassin is a very fun class to play but to play it well its like playing chess if you make one crucial mistake you are done this applies to pve and pvp.

Balrock Lord is over farmed by high level. I think lower level will have a hard time getting any symbol. I did killed him 5 times yesterday on my warrior but didn't drop any symbol.

Wait till you see the Elemental king and you will see what over farmed really is. The least I've seen on his spawn time is like 8-10 people.

Best thing to do is try to team with a friend or two and change the loot rule to free loot. That way more chances to do the neccessary damage to get teh drop and the toon that needs the symbol will still be able to loot it. But yes it can be frustrating when you are there trying to farm it below 60 and a couple show up. Only mid-50 warriors have enough damage output to really compete and even then it requires some luck too.

Just got a blue dagger, it is listed as having 18 more damage but raised my damage by 30. Only extra 'effect' listed is + 6 ap but that should only be 1 damage and the 10% dagger bonus should just be 2. Anyway, stun critting for over a thousand at level 38 and loving it!

Yeah, I looted 2 blue daggers but didn't even consider using them, bc the whole point of an archer is to AVOID using melee attacks. Would be a waste.

Personally, if it gets to the point where I can't find anything to do besides farm a 2hr spawn boss, I'd likely just take a break from the game. I mean seriously -- can you say waste of time?

I have to say I'm finding my frost mage a bit boring at the moment because now that I have permafrost and ice meteor I never kill solo and always kill in as large groups as possible as this conserves mana. Yes it's great when you can kill about 8 in one go, but I now find it quite difficult doing solo fights. From a distance, my frost bolt and fireball doesn't deliver a lot of damage and rock piercing doesn't seem to have as much power as it used to. So very often the enemy will reach me before it's killed and then I have to use frost blast/shock wave. I also find that a lot of mana is used just to kill one enemy, and its impossible to keep going without having to eat/rest frequently. I guess I will soon have to spend some points in the fire tree to get cyclone and fire barrage. But over all, I don't think pure frost is the way to go as it isn't very potent, but I guess I can't have everything! :)

I agree with everything.

But then again, the trick is do at least 3/5 of damage or say 60-70%. For people that likes to come in and aoe finish mobs for me, that's a plus heh.

To see a disappointment of them finish my group of 6-8 mobs and I get all the yellow exp msgs and loot while they cant, brings smiles on my face and teaches those people a lesson of do not mess with Mits heh.

Wow you're right about the mana regen. I put on one pair of gloves with 7 mana per 8 sec and it makes a HUGE difference. Wouldn't want to swap too much gear out bc then I'd lose armor/attack/crit. But one or two pieces works nicely.

No problem, actually it was only me swapping between alts. Was questing on archer but got on mage/warrior to kill some jerks.

One question though, why have it in vega? You could have done it in rift where everyone is 50+.

Definitely, frost mages are geared towards aoe. I had to single target a lot in rift, because the elites were heavily farmed. Had to eat every 3-4 mobs. Btw I got fire barrage and thr damag isn't great. Ok if it's for aoe but not single targets. Cyclone though is beast. Crits for 1.2k if your target is on fire, instant cast too.

As for the leechers, if I see them coming I usually just spam shockwave. It's funny when I still receive all the exp and loot.

All I can say is leveling sucks after you run out of quests at 57. That's why I only get on to do dailies.

Vega has that really close PvP zone I think :) making it easier and faster to fight in.

Not a big fan though. It's too crowded and tight. Not to mention the ability for healers to stay untagged.

Actually I think that the ability of a healer to be untagged is why so many do group pvp in vega. Takes away the danger of a mage nuking the team healer. Plus the graveyard is so close to the square a death never takes a team member out of action. I actually prefer it in the other zones where there is a little more skill involved. Although fights seem to slowly work there way toward the graveyard regardless.

Monks are just as whupass as warriors in skilled hands, and I am sure mages and archers are too. Half of the quest rewards and most of my decent drops are just as equally useless to monks. The last daily is in a small camp, north west of Crimson Tower: Sacrathar. You receive two quests, and after finishing one (forgot which) the daily is unlocked. This daily is really annoying though, took me ages to loot the item from the priests.

Nope, 99% sure it's unlocked at 47. Yeah, only priests dropped them and there were only like 5 in the whole area. The mages attacking you are annoying.

Good ones for archer, IMO, would be :

Chest : Guardian Leather Coat (Advanced- Best) or a Sniper Leather Coat (Professional).
Pants : Hunter Leather Trousers (Professional).
Boots : Riders Caligae (Professional).

The extreme best would be :

Chest : Stealth Hunter Coat (Master - 2 Gen Symbols).
Pants : Stealth Hunter Trousers (Master - 1 Gen Symbol). Luckily I got that one piece and made this one.

Professional pieces are pretty cheap because of that insanely fast Balrock Lord respawn, 3 minutes on the dot is crazy. The Guardian Leather Coat is pretty good, it seemed the recipe became rarer though. Captain Symbol is also a small pain.

Elly, how long did it take you to be able to craft the trousers? I mean, to learn all the way up to this point? Its a bit insane how long it takes... im just starting out and the amount of poor fur i need just to craft and get enough currency is crazy...

Also, I cant find the Berlock spawn point u were talking abt in your other post like 2 pages back ..... any chance u can put a screen print of a map possibly? thanks so much.

I finally hit master leather and now need about another 25k currency to actually be able to buy a recipe so I can use hard fur. Already used up every scrap of sophisticated and heavy fur that I had. Ugh.

And btw... Gear in general is soooooo unbalanced in this game. Warriors get their good gear from drops -- archers have lvl 58 crafted gear that's actually decent. Warriors don't have recipes that high lvl, as far as I know.
I may have to eventually join the madness and farm for general symbols for my archer :/

Fastest way would still be buying materials off AH, IMO.

Crafting gets progressively easier each level, with less and less mats needed since each new recipe in a higher level gives a lot more of business currency.

If im not mistaken, the first level of crafting was my hardest with my ranger, most recently. Got easier as it got higher levels needed.

I'm not sure of prices now, but last I did mine, I only bought stacks within 2 gold. Much faster farming the 2 gold per stack rather than farming the stack itself.

I close global and local chat every time I log in, so I never see anything. IMO, I'd say it's a good idea to stay out of the spotlight in that game, bc you just attract trouble. Apparently Eclipse has some impersonators as well trying to soil their name. Best not to attract attention.

Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes the quest icon is gray out but sometimes there is no icon at all. With my mage and warrior, I left the desert at 48 so I wouldn't know. Didn't get any quests leading me to rift.

PFM right? At 48 I think you can go start grinding in the fishfolk elites in rift, they're 52. Easiest spot to start grinding in, IMO, considering they're bugged. :p

Not directly in, might have to cross a PvP zone a bit though. Shouldn't be that much of a problem, usually deserted and I think there's a way to completely avoid it :)

There is a way to avoid the pvp tag. I hope you understand my explanation lol, here goes.

From Stranger's Roost (first town in Rift), there will be a junction. Take the left one, and from there keep to the right wall. The wall should open up into a beach. From there turn left and you will find the elite mobs. Hold on I'll post a picture soon.

Yeah, you go up a hill on the way there I think. When I go back I always seem to avoid the hill.

With My warrior, I simply stopped doing the stranger's roost dailies once I got the later dailies. It just didn't seem worth the effort bc every time I got flagged, I couldn't even check my mail in peace. That's five min that I could have been grinding instead of hiding out.

To be honest I never get attacked in rift, unless it's Gilligan. Everyone is too busy doing their own thing. The bulette and fishfolk dailies are definitely worth it. And if you're lucky you can finish the rigidity rockhearts quest pretty quickly.

This was when I was level 55+ though. At lower 50s yeah, not really worth doing.

Yeah not quite sure how GL has allowed the unlimited talent point exploit to continue. They really need to work faster on these things bc the economy is already shot. Not sure how things can recover after so many exploits being allowed to remain for so long.

The Vyx helm wasn't a glitch/exploit. They purposely made it more common to get people excited about it.
Not sure about the shadow caves, as that whole ordeal was shrouded in mystery, confusion and a lot of arguing.

But yes, bugs/glitches/exploits are fixed pretty fast in PL.

Apparently there's also a way to get nightmare demons easily, which is why certain people have flooded the market with them and they're worthless (despite having a super low drop rate when farmed normally). Things like this are making it hard to find things to do in-game, bc nothing's worth the effort put into it. Considering items are bound on equip, the economy should not be as bad as it is right now. The BOE should keep things in check (compared to PL allowing ppl to equip an item then sell when they outgrow it).

On a similar note, all these chat and spam glitches are really amateur IMO. Have you heard of that "hack" that players have where they can impersonate you in global chat? I even saw a picture of a guy changing the name from [Global] to [G*y Chat].

I read that thread in OC forums where there could be very very huge consequences for GL if they don't act on moderating soon, especially on the legal and scandal parts. I can't agree more too, which is why I don't understand why they aren't treating it with utmost importance. If they are, well, they're reallllllly slow. Lol

Lol not only that, some of the emails they send are just to thank you for your suggestion -- which they already did in the thread when they told you to look out for an email! Not sure how a company gets so big and yet wastes all that time/money/manpower on useless things. I can understand that new content may take ages, given that the game has only been out for a while. I doubt that GL anticipated that the material would be consumed as quickly as it has been. GL will need to think up innovative ways of keeping level capped players to continue to subscribe while updating other material. I am very concerned about the terrible language, views, attitudes, scams that anyone can read in the global chat. GL really need to sort this out asap. I think STS have been amazing at sorting out bugs and other issues, and perhaps it seems that this is not the norm and maybe as a consumer we expect too much.

Formora and Elly - I found the area that you suggested, thanks, and I shall camp there until I reach a higher level. Level 48 on a mage is probably pushing it a bit though, as the elites cast silence. I will probably still do the daily's on the desert to top up though. All the other quests are blanked out, expect for the initial quest in pvp area...

Don't go assassin before u get snipe. Get snipe at 40 then 5 point to crit and 1 in escape.

Btw, heartforgers of sorcery are pretty rare. There usually isn't one in the AH, or it's priced super high.

Like the others have said, you should focus on getting snipe asap, which is at level 40. After that you can invest in the assassin tree. I sent you 10g for your respec, consider it a gift :D

Has something to do with lagging and putting your skill points in. I tried to reproduce it but seemed almost impossible. It was almost like the mail dupe bug, when lagging and extracting you get more of the item you extract.

Personally, if it gets to the point where I can't find anything to do besides farm a 2hr spawn boss, I'd likely just take a break from the game. I mean seriously -- can you say waste of time?

Only the Borlock Lord I think is the boss that doesn't have that at-least-2-hour spawn time. And its over-farmed now too since many are reaching level 60.

I received gloves with 7 mana regen as a quest reward. Coupled with the 4 mana regen from my trinket, I have enough vigor to spam all my skills! I lose like 25 armor, 10 agility, 10 stamina and some ranged AP though. But I'd say switching one piece out for regen gear is worth it. I never have to wait for vigor unless I'm being attacked by multiple mobs, then I lose vigor.

Just got some leggings with 12 mana regen lol. I'll keep it just in case, but 11 regen should be good enough.

Yeah, I think all archers have similar builds to that. However, I would take the three points you added in Keen Swing to max Apnea and Rapid Steps. Although that would require one more point in the assassin tree than your build. I'd say sacrifice one point in High Explosive as the +crit only adds to Explosive Shot. Or maybe Ranged Weapon, if the damage bonus is only added for normal attacks and not skills. Can anybody clarify on this?

If you PVP, cutthroat and Apnea are great. See a caster casting, use cutthroat with apnea equal to interrupting and silencing the caster for 6 seconds. I am not sure about Keen Swing for archer since melee hit maybe low for archer and it cost vigor? Improve escape give you 30 extra dodge for 10 seconds.

There isn't anything worth investing points in for archer tree after you have all those maxed. Cutthroat is useful in PVP and 50% (Or 30?) extra dodge is always helpful. At end game I will have 9 skills excluding acute and paralyzing toxicity which I will put in the wheel. So there's one extra slot for potions. Or you could remove shadow strike from the skill bar, although I use it sometimes.

Anyways, I'm 68k exp away from level 43. Don't think there are any more quests, but I grinding at elite nomads/minotaurs shouldn't be a problem.

There are generally quests at every level. I'm level 54 now and have used quest on just about every level. There was a level of grinding around 38 and again around 48, but I also did dailys at those levels a number of times that helped. In general, quests are progressive and you'd complete all the quests in one town which will have an end quest that leads you to the next town. Sometimes I've taken the end quest prematurely and when I went back to a previous town I had quests there I hadn't completed.

Good Luck, O&C is fun, but I fear reaching 60 and boredom. I think PL has O&C beat in that catageory as even at 56 I was still able to have fun playing.

Ok so I'm struggling with my frost mage at the moment, went into Rift at Level 48 and he was pretty useless against even single mobs - could be the player :p
But anyway, I think pure frost doesn't work well by the time you reach level 50, and I think you need some spells from the fire tree. I've seen other builds and will try out shmoo's if the one above looks rubbish. I've tried to create a build for both pve and should the occasion arise for pvp. It seems that fire mages use cyclone and fire barrage a lot in both pvp and pve, so that's why I've maxed out flame charge. I've put the bare minimum into the frost tree, just in order to get ice meteor, which is good for pve. However, I've neglected spells that increase damage - Not sure really how useful this is at level 60, given that spell power should already be high by that level. What do you think? I'll brace myself. lol.

So I figured out why my new dagger gives more damage then expected and it is because for main hand damage, the slower speed of the weapon ups the damage, which in turn ups skill damage. It is really odd the way they calculate it, but even if two daggers had the same damage listing on the item, I would take the slower one. That means the dagger I bought at 38 with a 2.2 speed is the best till the seal at 56, assuming there are no slower quest daggers.

Or you could just run around the swamps and gank really low lvls. You can play the olande game. See how long you can keep players from completing olande quest in the cave. It gets interesting once they call their guildies or get their higher lvls.

Lol when tragic was doing our king of the hill game amongst ourselves (teams of three, taking eachother out by the graveyard, last team standing wins. Lots of fun try it out ^_^) before we did guild wars at vega I sent out a "who's getting grieved at swamps" message on global and low and behold gilligan whispered me and said henwas doing it so I checked it out to take him. That's when I discovered his hack and got all of tragic to spawn camp him with me. He had a sidekick from eclipse with him who later plead with us to let him go. We got a bunch of players to finish that quest he said he was purposely catching people with.

He's a true scum bag and deserves a ban.

ahhh Gilligan was one of the first 4 people jumped my archer when I was 30 vs 60. Paid him back once, it was good enough for me. If now he still has the hack after before mentioned fixed, then it's like OC forum, there's gotta be something done about it... Anyways.

Ok so I'm struggling with my frost mage at the moment, went into Rift at Level 48 and he was pretty useless against even single mobs - could be the player :p
But anyway, I think pure frost doesn't work well by the time you reach level 50, and I think you need some spells from the fire tree. I've seen other builds and will try out shmoo's if the one above looks rubbish. I've tried to create a build for both pve and should the occasion arise for pvp. It seems that fire mages use cyclone and fire barrage a lot in both pvp and pve, so that's why I've maxed out flame charge. I've put the bare minimum into the frost tree, just in order to get ice meteor, which is good for pve. However, I've neglected spells that increase damage - Not sure really how useful this is at level 60, given that spell power should already be high by that level. What do you think? I'll brace myself. lol.

Hi Blaze!

At 48 I think the frost AoE build should look a bit like this (http://www.orderandchaos.butt3rs.com/Mage/index.html?class=Mage&talents=113000000000000000000131203501103051410331 1). You should be aiming to gather 4 - 6 mobs before firing out your AoE spells inside the permafrost circle and then finishing with Ice Meteor. :)

Don't go into Sinskaald Rift yet, I would recommend going there at level 49. The elite ankar nobles to the west of the desert map should be ok to grind in until you reach 49. Once you hit 49 its time to kill some elite merfolk at Rift. :D

Not at all, and I'm on my third char :)

But I'm not sure I'll feel the same after my ranger reaches 60 lol. However I haven't tried PVP yet either, so that should keep me occupied for awhile.



Anyways, why is everyone so worked up about Gilligan? He uses hacks to get ahead of everybody else, and doesn't deserve any attention.

There are too many A-holes in O&C for me to care about them. I try to ignore them if I can, they'll get what's coming to them soon enough. The way I see it, you're the one losing out if you let them get to you.

Sure you can buff people and heal, but 90% of the time I rolled solo and rarely ran into any trouble. Even being mostly divine now at.....51, I use a Trident (although I have a healing staff as well for when in a party) and can do decent damage on my own - granted, probably not as much as a 51 warrior or ranger - but am pretty self sufficient as I can heal myself and just unlocked Divine Breath so no need to lug a ton of mana around anymore.

Interesting, how painful is it in the early levels? I am kind of regretting my decision to delete my monk. I really love Arcadian Forest and Tear Coast though, best areas IMO. So I don't mind restarting unless it's really tough. But from what I remember my military monk was owning until swamps. It will have to wait for now, I am goin to be really busy soon.

Lol no, I don't level that fast! I'm only 43 now. About 35k exp to level 44. I'm taking it slow this time. And sure, if you're on when I am we can party up. I'll start grinding at minotaurs tomorrow.

No bu they have the charge/knockdown skill that warriors have. Pin feet doesn't work on them sometimes. I use the sneak/rapid shot on them, but it's not a sure thing either. And they can knock me down even while I use escape. I had a really hard time getting those 10 boar meats from them, but finally managed.

Yep, they have several aoe attacks. Very different from PL warriors.
I would sometimes just shoot an arrow at a few diff mobs to bring them to me and destroy them all together. This game was made for warriors.

I am raising a full battle tree elf warrior to see what the damages are like going full STR/AP/Crit/2h wep

On my full guardian tree orc warrior with dodge/parry/block/AC/Sta equip, with 1h frontier axe (98dmg topend) with 1900s AC shield, unbuffed and when skills crits, I can do:

Pounding glow = 1900s
Shield Slap = 1900s
Charge = 900s
Swift Stike = 800s
Ankle Slash = 600s

Ech can probably give some numbers on his assassin.

All these trees are so fun to play.

I am gonna compare my military monk / battle war with my archer later on. My snipe crits 3000s, hopefully with some equip twigs, I can reach 3500s but that means I need to farm AH.

Wish new content will have higher level cap and items from dungeon/mobs.

Yeah, just mostly point attacks, although I did put one extra in Dragon Kick so I can hit/knockdown two. Trickiest part for me is that as a warrior for my first char, I could pretty much wade in. With the monk, I have to be a little more careful not to get more than two mobs on me, or I'm in trouble. Still, is pretty fun. The mana issue was the biggest bummer, but now that I unlocked Divine Breath, pretty nice. If I skipped trying to unlock Prayer of Pure Faith, I could get Phoenix unlocked which is a nice lAoE attack but not sure what I'm gonna do 55+ yet. Been playing my archer as well a little, Moogerfooger finally quit being lvl 16 for a month and am slowly up to 22, so I am slower on the monk.

I find that shooter stance is useless, unless you invest some skill points in overwhelm, or uprgrade the skill using skill books. 5 seconds is just too short. Costs way too much vigor for almost nothing.

Yeah kinda useless, IMO.

I found out the hard way, through about 500g :( Bought a 59 Bow of Offense, only to find out its the best for assassins/warriors, and not for archers. Using skills while in the stance also makes your attack speed normal, so its really just for normal attacks.

I think it will do good if they add damage to it, maybe.

I don’t think any AoE is spammable, gotta wait certain CD, the only class I really spam skills more frequently were archer and divine monk. I like to time my skills / combo and built up morale and vigor, save on mana etc. I don’t like to eat or use potions. So I always remain in constant battle / exp flow.

Hmmm I will have to check them names and stuff. I have 1 epic purple chest, I think it’s Sniper series (colonel symbol). The rest are all green with 2 blue, my Wym autobow and lv59 Red Lotus of Wind dagger. I’ve neglected my archer long enough, makes me feel I want to farm AH for some upgrades.

For now I am all about function before fashion, so for my archer I am full devoting to AP/AGI, not concentrating on crit at all (but I do keep a set of crit equip when I want to test stuff) So my unbuff is 23.94%. With monk buff get me to 25+%, which is a number I like. Crits enough for my taste, I like my unbuff 969 RAP, with buff goes over 1000+.

Elly and I did some number crunching a while back, but now he is the crit girl (BabyElly :p)
His archer has 35% unbuff if I am right, and can get to 41% with buff/agi scroll If I remember correctly. He can tell you all about crits. 25% is enough for my PvE taste. He is much more focused on PvP, I am sure he kills a lot with rapid shot :p

I don’t know guys, I still have a thing for Shooter stance, I have not given it up yet. I am PvE focused, so there are different sets of combo I use. Leveling up, there were times I go sneak>rapid shot>avulsion>pin feet>shooter stance and mob will die at its original spot, not move an inch, made me to go to loot (which I hate)

Stance works great 2.0 spd bow and the true power like Pin feet, is when you upgrade to extend the time.
It’s good to generate vigor :p

I am keeping SS in hope for future, where there’s boss that last at least 5mins + or 30mins+ and my job is to stand far and shoot.
