Thing with attack speed on 2h -- it only affects regular attack, right? Not skills. So is it really as useful as a skill that increases your overall damage?

That is actually a good thing if the speed affected your skills then you would do less damage on your skills. This isn't like PL where fast weapons are almost always better, here the slower the weapon the higher the skill damage.

2H, if you are gonna go the no-shield route...just does massive damage. I was owning at lvl 17-19 with a 2H Spear and then at 19 with some Mace. Been using 1H/Shield in Swamps mostly, but when I switch to 2H depending on the mob, it just whomps.

Kool I can use them to buy the recipes I hit 2300 last night and bought the advance but it only has 1 recipe when you buy it. I am farming the exquisite ones on the pvp area out of 25+ mobs. I get ores every time I see one but on pvp area there are a lot of people are farming them.

I will be farming them tonight and do some grinding till I get at least 10 stacks or more and with the gold I make I will buy the furs I need to craft. And send Teena the cloth I get.

Guys, is this a glitch? I have this quest but no idea where to get the item. I got a diff potion from the academy, but it's not for this quest. And no one else in the academy has anything for me. I haven't the slightest clue what to do with it. And it's already green, so I should have done it already!

I have my mule in Silence buying me quest books and storing advanced ores for me, and my archer in Bellshoal who I send all my stuff to auction. Not bad. I do have to go back to the civilized world to buy smithing recipes, tho, when I hit 25. And we should so team up if you're in my area, Moog!

The Orc zone is only for a few quests. It's pretty quick, then you go to the civilized world with everyone else.

Les, that quest/potion (I can't see the pic, blocked at work) is to go and spray on some skeleton zombies and warriors is different from the quest for the antidote to take back to Glimmermoor...I just did them both this morning. To get the antidote, just talk to the Grandmaster NPC in the Academy, a dialogue will come up where you ask him for the antidote and he just gives it to you, even though he has no quest icon over his head. Run back to Glimmermoor, done.

I am not sure if I will be on tonight, but I am at about 23.5 but in the same area as you, so maybe we can link up for a bit.

Oooh, I must not have unlocked those quests yet....I only had time to finish the repeatable worms one, the spray zombies/skeltons ones, and ran back to Glimmermoor to turn in the antidote one...are the bow and shoulderpads quests after that? My shoulderpads I have now are 101 armor but I have a lvl 24 set with 120ish in my stash waiting....are they better?

Yeah, against a single tgt Pounding Glow is da bomb diggity. I assume you upgraded your Off Shout with skill books as well? ;)

You have to do the spray zombies one first...just go out of the castle and turn due southwest...they are all over the shallow lake area, are blue/purple in color. Go turn it in, then you get pretty much the same quest but against the skelton warriors. The warriors are in packs of 6 or 7, but do very very little damage if you are 1H/Shield, I just stood in the middle of them and spraypotioned away while getting beat on, and I just popped Courage once in a while and I was fine.

Always a bad seed in the group of players. I had a 3 man team try to kill me, and I owned them all with glowing pound. It was pretty awesome. Shortly after, they chased me down and slaughtered me.

Ppl like that are just tools. I would literally punch them in the soul if I could, and push their momma down some stairs to make myself feel even better, seeing as they raised a little twerp.

Anyway, Les..what lvl is the intermediate axe? The marcasite one? And what are the lvls for the new adavnced stuff, and mats requirements?

Yeah its not pretty been on the receiving side. Anyway I will use the exp essence to power level and catch him. I have been slacking and taking it slowly on the leveling but things like this just make me go on hardcore mode; if only I had more time. I miss being a hardcore player like I used to.

Wow Les seeing those pics make me want to level my warrior heh. I wish I could change the race on my ranger though cause the gear looks awful on the undead, not like WoW where they gear and the stance made them look scary. Mine can still be confused with a lvl 1 warrior lol.

I don't know about you but I am thinking that if this game can be done in the mobile devices why not the same B* that STS made for the PC that got rejected? I would love to see STS games looking like that and I know for a fact that it can be done and having STS would mean we would get premium support for the game.

I'm confused. I think the second helm is glitched. Or it should be a glitch. All the other armor pieces have two diff options, one with extra parry and the other with extra crit. That helm looks like it should have extra parry, but doesn't :(

Basically, the two sets give you the ability to choose between offense and defense. Which would you recommend I buy? There are gloves and legguards. There's also a blue coat (and rapier), but after my last mishap, I'm afraid to buy them :( . Maybe when I have tons of currency to burn.

Ugh, I know what you mean. The first thing I do when I log on is switch off Local/Global chat.

It was extremely useful in WoW, but here with all the racism and inappropriate things, it just doesn't help me at all.

Have you guys noticed how the game filters the wrong words? Eg. came is filtered vs the F word.

Yeah I had to do the quest 3 times. First time, wifi died. Second time, pvp killed grrrr). Third time, eCh and beard helped in case pvpers attacked , and I got it.
Oh and even tho I've been pretty quick at grabbing the quest first -- if I'm chatting when it pops up, I forget I have to close the chat window to grab it, and by then someone else has it. So glad to be done with that quest.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of a list of pet drops? Have you gotten any personally or know for sure which monsters drop them? I'm going to farm the fishfolk for a fishfolk fledgling, but would like to know what other monsters drop cool pets.

I've gotten a Swamp Fishfolk Fledgling from one of the merman type mobs, so I'm assuming that pet drops according to the type of mob you kill.

Undead or skeleton mob = skeleton pet or something :p

Don't forget to switch to the lvl 28 helm in one lvl lol. When I reach lvln28 or so I may buy the gloves/legguards. I also want to see if any of the smithing recipes use the Captain's symbol. Otherwise it goes to waste :(

ECh I just told you I looted one from the Fishfolk King -- elite boss that spawned while o was farming a fishfolk fledgling and Ben helped me kill. Sadly, it's untradable, like the Sargeant symbol. Oh the irony!

As for the essences, mine needs essence of beast. I saw that you can buy them with runes. I hope they're lootable too, orthat's just lame-o! After all that work to farm elite bosses, you shouldn't have to shell out real cash to improve the recipe. :/

ECh I just told you I looted one from the Fishfolk King -- elite boss that spawned while o was farming a fishfolk fledgling and Ben helped me kill. Sadly, it's untradable, like the Sargeant symbol. Oh the irony!

As for the essences, mine needs essence of beast. I saw that you can buy them with runes. I hope they're lootable too, orthat's just lame-o! After all that work to farm elite bosses, you shouldn't have to shell out real cash to improve the recipe. :/

Teams are only good for xp farming and the quests that require killing a certain enemies said amount of times. NEVER for item farming.

Because you are not in Port Verecy? :) It is the last library quest, to go talk to someone in Verecy...I teleported to Glimmermoor and hiked over instead of doing that tragic trip through the tougher area/PvP zone in NE of swamps.

Ok, a bit unrelated, but I just lost a lot of respect gor WoM. I signed up to be a beta tester (havent started yet) and just got an email that they have an exclusive dragon mount that there are only 1000 of and there will never be more after that. And it costs $10. They're trying to get money from the people who are offering/-already are helping them. And some haven't even played the game yet? Anyway, if this is the kind of game it's gonna be, where if you don't slap down $50 a month you'll feel like you're missing out, I'll skip it. O&C may have some cash-specific items I don't agree with, but this one just takes the cake.

Is this just to help the game get off its feet or something? Cuz for me it just gives me the idea that this game will be a cash sinkhole.

That sucks :(. I'm scared sometimes when I send gold between chars, bc I have several things stuck in my mailbox. Not sure what they are BF I can't even open the messages. Yeah, soz. Was anxious to get out of Verecy, the few quests you have to do going to some Point where there are roving skeleal zombiez was a handful...small area, only a few quests but those little floating dudes hit hard and aggro pretty easy. I finished the last quest and ended up talking to a NPC (woman who will have a white quest icon for a bit until you finish others) and I was just clicking through and poof I am in Whispering Islands.

I will be out and about tonight, so you guys will prolly catch me easy.

p.s. just swim to the Ghost Point or whatever it was called....not that far and way way shorter than going around. Verecy is to the SE of where I am in that pic across the water several hundred "yards".

Not sure if you can get back but it's best for you to get to 30-31 enemies there even lower level than you hit a lot harder than on the swamps. I grinded from 27-31 On the swamps cave butchers and the serpent guys.

They are in the center of the map on the pvp area next to the crocs and turtles but If you are 29 you should get the serpent guys they give the most exp on the swamps. They are between the pvp area and the camp to the west of that area. If you see the ss I posted it's north east of where I am standing.

Moog, I'm in NO rush to leave the swamps. I'm gonna be doing me some farming! I still have some quests to finish and I want to farm that spider for the symbol I need. I'd also like to try and farm a pet or two. I might lvl up to 32 in the swamps, go get my next lvl of crafting and THEN head to the islands. That way I won't have to be teleporting back and forth whenever I need something.

Sounds like a plan....you can 'take a trip' between the islands and Verecy for free, just gotta get back to you guys from there. The mobs do hit pretty hard for me at 28 with top gear, 2H was a no-go as I discovered rapidly when I got mobbed by 2 or more. I'll be out and about with my shorter-but-significantly-better-other tonight, so catch up with youse tomorrow. I have a 29 sword ready, but yeah, being 30-32 and geared may not be a bad call.

I had the best morning! Grinding was so easy when you do them in lower level elites. I went from 50-52 in roughly 2 hours just soloing or +1 team member on 44-46 elites. I got 2 blues too! A polearm and a dagger, which you might want Red, it's for mages :D

I sorta wish there was open world pvp in levelling spots. Nothing is more annoying than "someone who doesn't speak english" (don't mean to be racist, but it is very annoying) who just comes up to your/your groups spot and starts whacking on mobs.

It's just as fun to see that person die though when you tell your group to hide for awhile so all respawned mobs target him :o

Btw, thanks to all who have been sending me materials :) i got so many exquisite scraps from killing fishfolk (but they still refused to give up one of their children). Tonight I'll likely buy the primal gloves and legguards and start making them for all the warriors around lvl 30. Then at lvl 32 I move on to the next lvl of smithing :)

From what I heard too, yeah only through the rune essences. Still early though, I don't even know if bosses drop the purple gear, all I've heard was just blue. Hopefully it's wrong, I don't really want to craft the best gear, I'd rather farm or loot them :p

I've seen ppl selling the blue crafted items in the ah. I wonder if the purples are tradable? Seems stupid to spend real money on making an item and then sell it for in-game gold...

Same. At the very vey least, you should be able to trade it to another one of your own chars. Shouldn't be stuck with an item on one char that you fan never use. And man, I wanna trade symbols with eCh!

Only a small part of swamps is PvP. You're ok till about 25 when you have to cross it for quests (Freakin lvl40+ spawn killers) :)

Hey Blaze...the PvP area in the swamp is near Arkan's Field, to the north east...you'll see it on map. The area within several hundred yards of that icon is the area as well....there are ways to kinda skirt around it, or only be in it briefly, but a couple of the quests are smack in the middle. Most players are just questing too, but some are just being clowns.

Hi Moogerfooger - thanks for the info and also thanks joeychandler for yours. I've heard that there are some really annoying players around those areas so I'll have to be on my guard. lol. It doesn't sound like it's a very large area, so I'll try and get through that section quickly.

Yeah there are....I found archers sitting up on hills overlooking the quest area in Swamp PvP land were the worst...just whack you as you are trying to kill monsters, just annoying.

Even though there are only a couple of quests directly IN the area, for many others you have to cross that area going from one place to the next so just haul butt through or hug canyon walls and scoot through the best you can....unfortunately it is difficult to avoid because there are so many impassable mountains around there.

Yeah, I feel for you. Metalsmithing is easier bc you can buy a weapon recipe that only requires ores, and rack up currency that way. But I am sending you everything I find, and telling others to do so as well.
If you need some exquisite scraps, let me know -- I may be able to spare some once I make everyone their new armors.

Congrats dude! Can you give a quick rundown of good places to grind (40 to 60)? I'm thinking of grinding at the humanoinds of Scathar (?) in the desert, I'm at level 40. :)
But it will probably be a different case for us mages, we can't heal during combat unlike monks and warriors, unless we use heal pot. XD

Thanks guys! Definitely a load off from having to worry about levelling up.

Based on what I've noticed in all the grinding spots:

Warriors - Freaking awesome. How many times I've come across warriors grinding in a spot with elite mobs higher than their levels (I usually only do equal or lower than me). I can only imagine how fast you can go if you grind in a spot with at least 4 levels lower than you.

Mages - I've seen frost mages work wonders. They can solo really really well, and if put in a group with a ranger especially, no matter how high level the mobs are it's easy. Works well with melee too, but I like frost more.

Rangers - Next in line to warriors. My brother got his final skill in the tree, 25% chance to crit for 200% of weapon damage, he could 2 shot elite mobs his level if that crit! Could solo really well too.

Assassins - Sorry Ech, but I found this the least common and the ones I see had a really hard time. Granted that the ones I saw were lower level or equal level to the mobs, maybe it'd be easier later on, especially with how fast you kill :)

Monks - Military monks are really good, especially if you're polearm. AoE machine! I'd go Phoenix Storm - Dragon Kick - Mantis - Dragon Kick, those 4 skills before the mobs can do anything to me, all of them have a short stun or knockdown. Mana isn't that much of a problem anymore, especially if you grind the right places. Divine monks have it really easy too, can't mob as much, but really easy in soloing mobs.

In general, I first grinded in the first mobs you come across in the desert, level 39-ish mobs and I was 40, got to 43 pretty quick. What I usually look for in a grind,

1. At least 350+ base XP. If you xp boost up (100% + 50% boost), that'd give you 800-1250 XP per mob kill, that's really really good.

2. Sometimes soloing is as good as in a group doing high levels. I've noticed that when you get at least 4 levels ahead of a mob, they do considerably less damage to you and it seems you kill them faster, idk why. So at times I prefer soloing an elite mob area that is 4 levels below me, but I can kill 5 at a time, rather than a higher level mob but one at a time and way riskier.

3. I only like to group with 1 person max. Grinding doesn't seem that hard to do, especially if you've got a good mix going on. My brother and I usually have it really easy when we grind together, and the XP shared isn't that huge of a loss. I noticed when we get more people, their additional help isn't worth the XP lost.

4. XP pot XP pot XP pot. I can't believe how good they are. I got to 60 in less than an hour last night, with the help of Toughie and Skimmey, was crazy XP!

Quests usually lead you to the grinding spots and you come across the elites, if not, pretty much went through all the grinding spots from desert onwards. (Noticed too that the grinding only starts in desert, whispering island doesn't really have elites that I found convenient).

Oh btw, with all this crafting, just wanted to suggest that it might be better if you focus less on materials etc now, and just focus on getting higher level first. I think its easier to craft stuff as you get higher level, especially with how easy gold is. I'm sitting at 350 gold now, 5 pages of my bag done, and from what I've heard from friends it'd only take about 70gold to get from scratch to pro blacksmithing, would vary in leather/clothe I guess :)

What level were the mobs? :) I think after awhile you'd get really really low XP, but then again better than nothing though!

You need to use real cash to buy "Runes" - their platinum currency. You buy XP pots, stat pots, crafting stuff in the Treasure Seller (Red Tree NPC Icon in mini map). Usually found in cities/towns.

5x of 100% more XP per mob for 1 hour is 25 runes.

So 60 runes = 10 hours of 150% more XP from mobs.

They last an hour, whether you die or not they stay :)

I'm focusing on crafting now, as I've heard that it gives one of the best gears too. I'm not exactly sure with bosses and drops, but if they're the ones in AH now, they aren't that great - normal green drops would suffice :)

Is there a craftable plate 31 or 32 helm, or <32 shoulder armor that can be made? One thing I have noticed it that there really are no good metal shoulder armors between 25-33 from what I can tell, which is odd. I am still rolling with some lvl 24 or 26 I got somewhere :\

They apparently have had a lot of complaints about this....they said something abotu making some changes.

One solution I can think of....I played another little game called Emross War a bit...kind of a strategy war game...and they instituted a rule where you could not attack someone more than 10 lvl below you. They could do that here in OaC, where it wouldn't allow you to target/attack someone in PvP more than some number of levels below you, like 5 or 10, or something.

On that note...watch out for a guild called NigerianS...PvP gankers. One of them got all over me while I was goofing off testing dual wield, unfortunately I had run through the PvP area and still had a timer on me...dude jumped me, barely beat me, then since we were near the cemetary, dude ran over and spawn-jumped me, with two more of them already hanging out by the cemetary. I got the initial offender but his two clown buddies made short work of me even though I managed to get a shield on.

Elly/Red/Ech, feel free to jump any of these clowns...not the first time I have had run ins with Nigerians either...I owned one of them a few days ago, might have something to do with it.

Yes you will have to do some more escorting. I think the last one is where you don't have to do the escort. The long wait is because people are doing escort and once they are done, he'll respawn. In Orlande? I don't remember bringing him any other place after the cave though. All I've gotten were the kill some named mob quests.

Did you do the quest where you get the blue cloak or ring? Maybe I didn't have to do the escort on the quest but I follow him to the cave anyway because I have to be quick with him. There is no time to read or whatever with him since a bunch of people are after him. I tried to click accept as fast as I can. I think I have to go to this guy 4 times for quest.

That's the first quest right? Escort him to the cave to find his daughter, then she gets killed, then some random assassins pop up? :)

After that quest, Olande does say to visit him again at his home. I haven't had the patience to wait there for him again, but it's quite possible he has another quest for you.

Yeah he does, a few actually, but no more escorts if I'm not mistaken? All just pickup/submit type quests - other than the really annoying respawn.

I don't remember anything really significant for rewards, so I'm guessing no. :)

Yeah, 90% sure that there aren't more escorts, because after the first escort quests I just tapped him as fast as I could to submit/pickup new ones.

It was a pain, but with my quick fingers, i got all of the Orlande quests done, and got myself a nice blue Ghost Cloak :)

The only thing i bought was 2 extra item slots, and one respec. I tried to use the AH the other day but it was down. Usually I'm not in a town where one is available to make some quick cash. I'll continue giving you mats and just sell my wool/clothes. I'll take whatever you can part with. Do your crafteds sell for more than 1g?

K I'll send you a bunch of stuff when I'm on next. I just logged off :/. Yeah the AH is a pain. I have problems listing all the time. I think they need to limit the amount ppl can list. That might also keep the prices up if people don't list everything they have at once. The market is flooded with items. I don't even get excited anymore over looted greens (I used to).

Awesome, just completed all the Olande quests and the Library quests. Level 30! Found a great auto-ing spot, 150+ exp. Gonna stick my toon there while I sleep.

Les I've still got that Elf quest. Only one left. Can't wait for the chest/feet/shoulders!

Also, I quit the app and died because your char doesn't attack when the app is in the background. However I lost my connection, logged back in and I was at the same spot, alive. Maybe try this if you don't want to walk ;)

For those that want to grind and make money at level 24 to 29 go to Eoltarblod in Swamp and kill the skeleton. Usually the drop is 2 to 4 silver each and mostly in the 3 silver range. They are easy to kill.

No problem :) they were dropping a lot from the fishfolk. Even had to drop some :(
Also, others were sending them to me to foelrward to the right person lol.

I've never seen or heard of a Colonel's Symbol, has anyone seen it? I also killed my first Swamp Giant, Master Seargent symbol :D

Anyone know where any Elites are in Whispering Islands? Preferably close to the first town. I need to do a bit of leveling and would be great if I can kill two birds with one stone.
